When you're an artist running your own music career, there are a lot of things you have to do.

Some of those things are right up your alley, and you love doing them.

Some of those things are necessary parts of running your business (because - like it or not - this is a business), but you feel like devoting your time and energy to them is just keeping you from what you’re really good at.

You can let them slide to an extent, but deep down you know that you’re leaving money, opportunities, and in some cases both, on the table. And you’re not into losing out on either of those things.

(So you might need a hand with that.)

So maybe you want to “Rent A Jen”.

I’ve been working in the music industry for about a decade now, and in addition to my career as a Tour Manager (which you can read more about on the Tours page), I’ve done a lot of the back-end, annoying, nitpicky, administrative stuff too. (Want to know a secret? I really enjoy a lot of it!)

Admin stuff isn’t my full-time gig anymore, and you probably don’t want or need to hire someone in an ongoing way anyway, but that doesn’t mean I’m not available to help you cross a few things off your to-do list on a project-by-project basis.

Here's what I'm available for right now:

I currently offer a handful of services that can help you get critical pieces of your business moving if you're stuck (or simply don't want to do the task yourself).

As every project is different, the numbers below are estimates. We can discuss your needs over email to find out if it will require more or less time than these figures, but in general, these prices will be what you'll pay.

 

SOCAN submissions

Are you a Canadian touring band or artist and behind on submitting your Notifications of Live Performance (NLMPs)? I can get you up-to-date on gigs as far back as the beginning of the previous calendar year (currently - any gigs from January 1, 2021 to present) and in some cases some earlier performances. Once submitted, your SOCAN royalties will pay out on one of the following ‘SOCAN days’ (February 15, May 15, August 15, November 15).

Pricing: 30% of royalties, payable on receipt from SOCAN (deposit required)

Website/Social Media Profile Reviews + Action Plans

I'll do a detailed review of your current website and social media/online profiles and give you my feedback on it in multiple arenas – reader experience, branding, conversion, etc.

(I'll send you a questionnaire first to get to know you and your brand, and what your goals are for your website.)

You'll receive my full review along with specific recommendations and an action plan so that you'll know what to work on first to make the biggest impact.

(Note: I will not be reviewing the content posted to your social media channels, but the profiles themselves - bio, link(s), profile images, etc.)

Pricing: Most projects come in at CAD $250.

Website Creation or Overhaul

 
 

Website Copyediting

Not happy with your current website, or don’t have a website at all? I can help you build a site from the ground up (on a user-friendly platform you’ll be able to handle on your own for ongoing updates), or overhaul your current website.

We’ll go over your website needs and wants together, and review the new site together at several intervals to make sure you end up with a site you’re proud of and happy with.

(Note: You will be responsible for the content - both written and visual - on your website. I will be creating the site itself and populating it with content you provide.)

Pricing: Most projects come in at between CAD $500-$750 (excl. domain and website hosting fees).

If you have an existing website and you’d like its copy improved, I can help with that, too.

Pricing for copyediting will depend on the number, size, and complexity of the pages.

(Note: I won’t be writing all new content for you - I’ll be reviewing existing content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, tone, and readability.)

Pricing: Most pages come in at between CAD $75-$100 (bulk pricing available for multiple pages).
