Ask: Celebrating Inspirational Women
A year or two ago, when she came to deliver my copy of her gorgeous coffee table book Music Makers: Portraits at the Great Hall, Toronto photographer Lisa MacIntosh casually mentioned that she’d love to include me in her other series, called Ask: Celebrating Inspirational Women. I was of course deeply flattered and immediately hit with a major case of Imposter Syndrome (everyone experiences this right??) but said that yes, I would love to be a part of it, no question.
It took us quite a while to finally make it happen, between life and general busy-ness and my touring schedule, but finally last fall when Lights was playing in Toronto on the Young The Giant tour, we were able to do the thing and I’m so thrilled with how it turned out. I had really wanted to have my photo in my tour “world”, my Production Office (or in this case Production Corner of the Green Room), where I feel my most badass - that behind-the-scenes space where I do my thing, so that the artist can do their thing.
Lisa is an amazing photographer and I’m thrilled with how the photo turned out - you can check out mine here, and see the whole series on Lisa’s website. And as if all that weren’t enough, just this morning Lisa posted the incredible illustration above, by her friend Mary Harper - I’m completely delighted to have been included 🙃 Yay for talented women working together and supporting one another!
